Child Car Seat Safety Guidelines
There is nothing more important in the care of your child than protecting them while they ride in the car. Here are some child car seat safety guidelines that will provide you with the answers you need to keep them safe while you are on the road.If you have an infant, you need to use a rear facing car seat at no more than a 45 degree angle, this is to the age of one or up to 20lbs. Use the right car seat for your child's weight and height. Always use the car seat safety belt latch and follow the instructions correctly when installing and when buckling up your baby.
If your child exceeds the car seats height and weight and if his shoulder's are above the car seats harness slots or his ears are above the car seat then you can take the next step to a bigger car seat and they can also face forward now, but be sure and place them in the back seat of the car. Again use the safety latch system correctly and make sure it fits snug and tight.
Many children outgrow the harness of a forward facing car seat at the age of 4 or 5 and can then move up to a booster seat.
