Do I Really Need a Child Safety Checklist for Pajamas?

Child Safety Checklist

Your child's safety is always at the front of your mind. You make sure that your child is safely buckled in, knows your address and phone number, and even knows what a stranger is. Does your safety guard go down once your child is sleeping? It shouldn't!

In the late 60's and early 70's there were over 60 deaths per year of children who died as a result from their pajamas caught on fire. In 1972, the consumer products safety commission mandated fire standards for children pajamas. Unfortunately in 1996, the consumer products safety commission again changed the mandate, and cotton has found it's way back into children's pajamas.

Here is a checklist for you to follow as printed on wakulla.com in an article written by D.C. Keenan:

1. Purchase flame-retardant sleepwear if possible.
2. Never use cotton blends if possible.
3. If not flame retardant, use snuggly-fitting sleepwear only.
