Ford Motor Company is Rolling Out Their New Child Safety Program.

Ford Motor Company is testing a new child safety program called See Me Safe. See Me Safe is a child passenger safety program. The first pilot city was Detroit, Dallas is being rolled out now and Nashville will come on board in January. The See Me Safe program certifies technicians so they can in turn teach parents and caregivers on how to properly install their car seats and properly buckling their child into place.

The Child Safety Program certified technicians also provide participants with tip sheets, contact information for other certified technicians and a photo of their child buckled up properly. The brochures and other literature are available in both English and Spanish. Ford is also going one step further including health care providers with free car seats and training to be certified technicians to increase the likely hood of the program.

Child Safety Harness, Grandmother Created, Grandmother Approved.

A grandmother in Vermont, Louise Stoll, invented a child safety harness for toddlers on airplanes. The harness type safety device weighs less than a pound and fits in a 6" sack. That will save many people from lugging those cumbersome car seats onto airplanes.

The harness style safety device is called CARES, which stands for Child Aviation Restraint System. It was designed for children who are able to sit upright on their own, who weigh between 22 and 44 pounds. CARES is certified by the FAA and has been named one of Good Housekeeping 2008 Good Buy Awards. Louise Stoll was awarded a patent in June of 2002. So far over 15,000 CARES have been sold, and it will be featured in the January 2008 Good Housekeeping, coming our mid-december 2007.

Halloween Child Safety, a Little Too Late?

A Halloween Child Safety warning was released early on Halloween this year. The Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a recall of fake Halloween teeth sold by the tens of thousands. A lot of parents were very upset, as their children had already used the $2 pair of teeth.

According to CBS news 4 in Washington, the fake Halloween teeth were only the latest of recalled Chinese-made items. The fake teeth were being sold in the US since January 2006. In that time 43,000, of these lead infested fake teeth have been sold throughout the U.S.

Child Home Safety Tips for Children Free Homes.

If you are a kid free adult, you have had the luxury of living without child proofing your home. But as the holidays roll around, your childfree home may have a little visitor, is your home ready?

According to The Home Safety Council, based in Washington, the most important thing to do is hide all matches and lighters. As adults we think nothing of leaving lighters and matches lying around and we also underestimate the catastrophic damage they can cause. Be sure to remove that temptation from any child entering your home.

If you still do not think it is a big deal, please remember that a child playing with matches is cited as starting one of the recent fires in Southern California.

Inflatable Pool- Child Pool Safety Tips.

Once the weather gets hot out, children like many of us want to head for the pool. It is a natural instinct to want to jump into that inviting water, and most parents believe that the inflatable pools they have set up for their children are less harmful pools than an in ground pool. Unfortunately, that is not the case. Children can drown in very small amounts of water.

In order to protect your children from the inflatable pool you purchased to entertain them, try these child pool safety tips:

1. Cover the pool when not in use or empty and refill when needed.
2. Store the pool deflated or upside down to keep rain water from collecting in it.
3. Keep the pool in a gated area.
4. Teach your children to swim.
5. Always watch your kids around water!

Child Safety Tips for the Holidays.

As we all know the Holiday season is upon us. Unfortunately, the season of shopping is also a time for crooks to steal from our cars, activate gift cards we haven't even given as gifts yet. Even though we all take the proper precautions to avoid those things, how many of you have taken the time to review safety tips with your children?

Most stores are overly crowded this time of year, and it is increasingly easy to be separated from your child while your out and about. Does your child know what to do?

Here are some child safety tips you should make sure your child knows before your nest outing to the crowded mall…

1. Teach your children to find a store employee if you become separated. Possibly point out the Blue smocks that Wal-Mart Employees wear to identify safe people to go to while entering the store.
2. Teach your children never leave the store where they last saw you.
3. Teach your children never to go into the parking lot alone to find you.
4. Make sure they know your contact information by heart, name, phone number and address.
